Fox Counsel is an online calculator that calculates the discounted payback period of an investment in education abroad.
Fox Counsel is built specifically to cater to the needs of the middle-class student community. This group of students is both ambitious and driven. However, there is a need to provide a quantitative perspective to complement the qualitative factors in the decision making of an education abroad.
Fox Counsel was launched in the second half of 2015 and has since garnered recognition and hits across the world.
Journey
It all begins with an idea. In my undergrad program, we were taught the basics of finance - Compounding, Net Present Value, Discounted Payback Period and the likes. During the same time, there was a lot of thrust given to further studies abroad. Given that it is probably the biggest investment one makes, one is not informed on expenses apart from tuition and living costs. I used the financial concept of project decision making and applied it in the context of an investment in education. What started as an excel spreadsheet model transformed into an accessible website!
